GWN's Fitness Thread

Ran 50 minutes on the treadmill. Pretty much pain free but something still feels off. Will probably take it easy until Sunday and then get the medium runs in early next week leading up to 13 by next Saturday.

Did 8 on the treadmill today. Foot feels good. Just the same, I’m going to a running footwear shop in Jacksonville to get some advice on shoes.

I was the running specialist at my store for a few years. Might can help if you need it.
Man I appreciate that. Wouldn’t really know much what to tell you. My feet are pretty wide and fairly flat. I’m a bigger dude for a runner so I’m trying to save my knees, ankles, etc as much as possible as I prepare to run 26 miles.

I’ve been running in ON Cloudswift on the treadmill and ON Cloudventure on the trails. I had the foot problem in the Cloudventures. Both pairs of shoes regularly feel funny on the bottom of my feet...like my sock has a fold in it or there’s something in my shoe. Kind of hard to explain.

I’ll have these dudes evaluate my gait and look at my feet and hopefully give me a good recommendation. I’d be happy to hear any advice you have as well.

I have flat feet as well. They’re a massive undertaking, but I loved the Brooks Beast once my feet adjusted. ASICS, like Breeze suggested, are sick. I love the Mizuno Inspire as well. Biggest thing you need is a support shoe and not a neutral/cushion shoe. You’re most likely gonna have a heavy overpronation with your gait. I have the same with my gait. Now with trail shoes, I am out of the loop compared to what I used to be. Those guys will be able to tell you all the new technologies but I would say something to help with overpronation based off what you said.

Neutral runner. No pronation. They had me in probably 10 different pairs of shoes and the only ones that didn’t feel weird on the bottoms of my feet were the New Balance Fresh Foam 1080. So I picked them up.

The cushioning in these things is insane. First run felt good. We’ll see.

Wow, really? Clearly I’m not an expert anymore haha. Flat feet was normally an Uncle Scott 🔒 for overpronation. Well good deal man. My brother had some 1080s before I believe. He liked them.

Yeah they videoed me and showed it to me. Really pretty neutral. The cushioning on these shoes is more than any shoe I’ve ever run in. Hopefully that translates well on these long runs.

I have no idea how I’m going to run 5 miles today. There’s six inches of snow everywhere. Can’t even really walk.
Don’t want to do it on the treadmill because running gait.

Swapped out 20 mi on the bike for the 5 mi run. Another 4 inches of snow today so probably not running tomorrow either. Hopefully cleared up enough by Saturday or Sunday to run my 8
