GWN's Fitness Thread

Definitely not on par with what GWN did today but, after nursing a pulled groin for a month, I finally went back to a leg day at the gym today and I will be jelly legged the rest of the weekend. Luckily tomorrow night includes a wedding reception, I'm gonna need a lot of liquid medicine.
 
I changed routines in the gym to focus more on strength training, so I've squatted 3 times this week...this morning being one of them. Does not bode well for tomorrow or Sunday, for that matter.
 
I did high speed squats and dead lifts at 135 before I then did my regular KB routine but with 10 lbs less than normal. Finished with a 150 lb sled push. Thank god for vodka right now, tomorrow will be worse.
 
I've gone to a 5x5 routine with just 5 total movements. Squat, Bench, Barbell Row and Squat, Military Press (standing) and Dead lift. Alternate those two workouts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 5 sets of 5 reps, as much weight as you can do. Once you hit 5 reps on the fifth set, the next workout you go up 5lbs on that lift.

I like it so far. But it's a shat load of squats.

I know there are people who will swear up and down on either side of this argument but I've come to the opinion that squats and dead lifts are worth it with a barbell and weights but with all my upper body movements I do either body weight, resistance bands, a KB or medicine ball.
 
Still doing the Advocare thing. Was 182lbs this morning...can't remember the last time I was this light. Probably high school.

Been sticking with the 5x5 style lifting routine as well. All lifts are consistently going up. I like it.
 
Damn, you're the same weight as I am right now and I'm pretty sure you are a lot taller than I am.
 
I'm leaning out as much as I possibly can this summer, then I'm going to focus on adding quality mass over the winter. I'd really like to be 195ish and the same body fat I am now.

I have literally never been this lean, though.
 
Pretty impressive still. I work out consistently and play soccer regularly but know I could be doing more, mostly with my diet. If I was really at my optimal, I'd be around 170, maybe 175 if I did it the way you are trying to.
 
I'm OCD with this shat, man. Admittedly. Drives my wife crazy.

Some people bust their ass in the gym so they can eat and drink whatever they want and not worry so much about how they look. I wish I could be content with that. The way I see it...no way I'm putting myself through this hell without being able to see results in the mirror. Plus I've been able to eat pretty much what I want on Saturday and still progress...keeps me sane.

I keep the diet fairly good most of the week, even though it's not as good as it used to be before the fiance moved in with me. More than anything though I know that I drink too much, although instead of drinking 10 or 12 beers in a night like I used to, I'll have 2 or 3 and then switch to vodka soda's like a soccer mom on a diet.
 
Just ran and did abs for the first time in a while. A little ashamed I let myself go that long. Gonna get back at it and get this money
 
Good for you, man. Sometimes you just need that little kick in the ass to get it going again.

You ain't lying. I weighed in at 165, which is the most I've ever weighed (not a bulk guy at all) at 5'7". Had to check myself lol. Dbake's cheeze-it ad has me feeling some type of way tho
