GWN's Fitness Thread

Wu, what is the word on these new UA running shoes? They for real or nah?

They're good for training/running short intervals. Wouldn't run over 5 miles in them. The upper is made out of the same material their sports bras are made out of, and it's seamless up top. Also, under armour's foam breaks down fairly quickly in the soles of their shoes. It's not a bad shoe, good for training/lifting. But I wouldn't really recommend it as a running shoe, as there are better lightweight options for the same price

Didn't really think of this until right now when GWN asked you but not I'll pick your brain too. I work out in a pair of New Balance Minimus (sp?) but don't really run just to run, all my aerobic activity comes in a sport setting. But soon I'll be running with Raynoch a lot and, bc of where I live, I have the ability to run on the sand and on trails through some wooded areas. Any recommendations for that type of thing?

What's your mileage, what type of arch do you have, and do you have any injury history in your feet, knees, or back?

Just ordered a pair of Inov-8 Terrafly 303 off Amazon. Supposed to be great for on and off road running. I love the Innov-8 line...

Mileage is probably always less than 5, I don't usually ever do real long distances. Arch is normal but my feet are slightly narrower than most. Tore my MCL a couple years ago but nothing major other than that.

Based off that, I wouldn't do a minimal type shoe. You can still do a light weight trail runner woth a little bit of support though. That would be good. The Brooks Cascadia is a shoe that I own that I play softball/hike in. I love them. The Inov8's GWN got are good. Solomon Missions are good. Merrell MiXmaster. Any of those are lightweight, decent support and cushion trail shoes. I recommend the Brooks or Inov8

Looking around online it appears I can get the Merrell's for about $20 cheaper. I know from this and another conversation we've had that GWN is a big fan of the Inov8's. Would you guys say that they are worth the additional 20 bucks or are they fairly similar?

I would

I've been really pleased with my pair of Innov-8s, but they are a training shoe. Have to see how I like their running line.

Advocare final update....

27 days
Starting weight: 210
Ending weight: 190(-20lbs)
Starting waist (around belly button): 35
Ending waist: 32.25 (-2.75in)

Was definitely not easy, and I busted my ass, sometimes working out twice a day. Results speak for themselves, though. Highly recommend giving it a go.

have a feeling the whole advocare plan is in this thread somewhere. may need to check that out.

Congrats on the results, not an easy thing to do. Much respect.
