Wu's very own recruiting thread.

Coach Jake is gone? Im not really disappointed...i hope we get a good replacement.

Going to Tampa Bay to be QB coach? Maybe they'll draft Worley lol.

I'm betting the grind get to be too much for him. I imagine TN OC is 100x tougher than anything else he's done

Honestly not even sure how much of it he actually did but if I was in the coaching profession and had the chance to take a job in the NFL where I never had to think about the word "recruiting" ever again and the money was even close to comparable, I can't imagine not jumping at it.

Some folks on twitter seemed to think we're the first school to ever cut a kid loose late in the process.

I have said many times that I would rather lose games than do things the wrong way. These are kids who aren't getting paid. We encouraged this kid to shut down contact from other schools, pay for multiple trips to Knoxville out of his family's pocket, and become friends with other recruits who are part of the "family" we're selling, and now we cut him adrift 14 days before signing day. I know everybody is beating their chest about how "it's a business" and "everybody else does it," but I don't care what Alabama and Florida State do. My alma mater just fscked over a 17 year old kid and I'm not happy about it. Winning at all costs is what pro sports is for.

If a kid's offer is conditional, let him know it's conditional. Honesty is all I ask.

I completely agree with you on all of this. The reaction was just funny, as if this doesn't happen all the time / hasn't been a problem for a long time.

I'm assuming the Kelly commitment means we missed on Bryce Love?
