I’m sure you’re aware but barbell bench is terrible for shoulders (health wise) anywayCurrently going through my first real feeling of dealing with old man shit (although I know you've still got me beat GWN).
No real idea how/why but I tend to have a pattern of a few times a year tweaking something in my back/shoulder area that provides some low level of discomfort but is usually easily corrected through my normal, every two week chiropractor schedule. After almost two full months since my most recent tweak I am still not back to 100% and tomorrow will mark my fourth visit to the back doc in the last two weeks. At first it was a mild nuisance that didn't actually have any impact on my workouts but starting last week it started actually messing with my lifting and caused some terrible instability with my shoulder during a bench. What makes it even more frustrating is that before all this happened I had been hitting the highest weights in a bench progression routine that I've been (extremely slowly) building up since the beginning of the year.

Never had a problem recovering from it before but this is really starting to get on my nerves. Like I said, pain level is not very high so it isn't debilitating or anything but, other than when I tore an MCL, I don't think I've ever had something cause even a low level of discomfort for this long. Only silver lining is I've been able to modify most of my workouts to still get in some upper body work but I've defaulted to a ton of leg days.I get an impingement around my rib cage in my back all the time. I’ll send you a flip charts with workout that only take 20 minutes and have different interval protocols (as many rounds as possible, every minute on the minute, etc). I was picking up a Jeep leaf spring. Nothing crazy but it locked me down. I ended up at the doc and found out I’ve got a degenerative condition in a couple discs in my lower back. One is basically eroded to the point where the vertebrae are touching. Not great, Bob.gifHurt your back working out? Muscular or structural? Either way no fun.
Basketball being shutdown has been tough for me. I was up to playing three times a week. Been heavy on the peloton in quarantine. Need to start lifting more frequently again.

CONGRATS!What's up gents, hope everyone is getting through this craziness with their health and, just as importantly, their sanity. I'm finding that second one a little more challenging than the first at times.
Was obviously never expecting something like this but, over the years, I'd cobbled together a decent collection of kettlebells and Rogue power bands that have allowed me to put together about 80ish% of my old routines just without the real heavy stuff. To try and counteract that in some way I now use a jump rope routine in between each exercise I do every workout. Lastly, I do everything while wearing a 20 pound weight vest. Down about 8 pounds and regularly into the 170s for the first time in quite a while. I know some of that obviously has to be muscle mass but I'm hoping at least a few pounds are fat as well.
Oh yeah, and assuming all goes well, boy #2 set to arrive sometime in late September.
