The guy wanted his face on TV with a national prime time audience. That 's it. If you were interested in public safety at all you'd announce it in the morning, probably on a Sunday. He went for TV ratings instead.

It's heavily concentrated in a few blocks of downtown. They have most of the property in that area but not quite all of it. (Walter's, for example, is right in the middle of it.) When I first moved to Atlanta GSU was almost completely a commuter school, but they've gradually added lots of dorms, and I think that now there are plenty of kids who have a traditional living-on-campus experience there. Except that being on campus is right in the middle of downtown Atlanta.

True, true. I wouldn't be considering living on campus if I were looking to attend... Assuming I'd be living in a suburb and doing some sort of fun commute?

Might end up having to take a visit and just get a feel for it.

I don't know what the percentages are, but Georgia State is not even close to a traditional black college. Chief himself (may he burn in hell forever for liking the Jason Heyward trade) is a GSU alumnus.

Whether commuting would suck would depend on when your classes were, of course. Plus GSU is right on the train line. They got the stop that I wish was over at Turner Field.
