Do it. Absolutely do it. Some of the passes probably won't be clear by May, but there isn't a better place to detour than the Rockies.

Pretty cool situation actually... Buddy of mine (who is studying biology/genetics) got on as an intern for the summer in Yellowstone on a federally-funded research grant. 1 of 14 undergraduate interns to get the gig. So, after the semester ends, we are doing the drive out, then I'm flying back before all of his work begins.

I can't wait, honestly. Gonna see a lot of the country that I haven't seen before, besides just Yellowstone. Only place I've been in that "area" of the country is Denver when I was ~15.

Summer plans, so far, include that and getting my TEFL certification.

Yellowstone is great. Allow more time there than you think you'll need. When you look at a map it looks like you'll just be able to bang out the main sites in pretty short order, but it takes much longer to drive around between them then you think it will. Also don't miss the Grand Tetons, which are only about an hour or two to the south.

Sounds like fun. I know it's nowhere close to Yellowstone but i went to the Grand Canyon in 7th grade and it was amazing. Pictures don't do places like that justice. I want to make a trip up to that part of the country sometime.
