Where is everyone?

Meh. Wait and see approach. I know Chipper liked the signing, maybe that means something. I also saw where Adam Jones was disappointed he's not in Baltimore anymore.

I guess my hope is that he suffers no offensive drop off while bringing some leadership & grit to the ball club.

I hear ya

Gets on base at a decent clip, makes a lot of contact, good clubhouse presence. Maybe not an impact guy but certainly well rounded.

Not a fan of Markakis personally. He needs to be more consistent. That probably makes him our most consistent hitter though :)

Just don't see a ton of production coming from him and would have rather saved the coin if we're rebuilding anyways but I get the move I guess.

Next trade dictates everything.. Upton or Gattis, and the return (large prospect haul or close to ML talent).

Julio, wood, miller, and minor are enough to compete. The next move (IMO) signals the direction of the franchise for the next three seasons.

Yep. I just hope to God we're not so bent on dumping them that we settle for almost nothing.

If anything comes of the gattis + bj for fowler+ rumor I'll run out into the street and start jumping on the hoods of cars and kissing babies.

Sounds like the ransom for UPTON is high, as it should be. I don't really care for our current front office, but I can't do anything about it. Maybe they have a plan, maybe they don't. But I'll reserve judgment until the next trade, if not the end of the off season.

The heyward trade blows, but (based on the very limited info we have) it had to be done.

Same here. I wanna see what we do with upton/Gat, and what rundown Veteran SP we sign at a bargain.

I also would like to know their plans with Peraza...

Peraza
Markakis
Freeman
JUP/Gattis

Not awful, but the next 4 will be a big drop off.. Would love to somehow get Fowler

I just can't get over Heyward to the Cardinals. I guess I need to embrace the rebuild. But I can only do that when I believe they blow it all up. Until then, I just see this as a replacement for Heyward, which it is to a degree. But I'll feel a lot better about it once I see some returns on J UP, Gattis etc. Maybe I should just jump on the Cubs before they hit, I mean, my mothers entire family are North Side Chicagoans after all.

I think the takeaway is that they're not rebuilding, at least not completely. This is the old "stay competitive while we rebuild in place" move, as expected.

A healthy, well-run organization ought to have at least one outfield prospect at all times who can credibly be given a shot to hold down a corner OF spot in spring training; the Braves don't have one, so they're forced to go out and buy a veteran on the expensive FA market. I don't hate it, but starting off your rebuild by locking down an average player to a long-term deal is aiming low.

So we should all be pulling for Mizzou on Saturday correct? (Sorry Verc)

Hurts the red team and possibly expedites playoff expansion with no SEC representative, yes?

I hate Mizzou and everyone who roots for them and everyone who goes to that school but nothing to compare to what I think about the red team. Go Tigers.

I'm already all in on that Cubs wagon

Rucker is behind Big Scott info. Scott should use Smokey's Balls as a Vols Rumor account
