Just wanna thank y'all for the prayers/vibes. My brother surprised us today at the house. They approved his leave last minute after they heard what had happened. He gets to attend the funeral. Thank you again

I'm not some huge gun control advocate either because no one in power or running for power has any sense and I don't know the answer either

I'm saying, at the very crux of the matter, what purpose does humans having guns serve?

I understand completely. As a responsible advocate of firearms, I agree with you more than you'd probably think. I grew up in the country, hunting was a way of life for us. So I was around long guns, ie shot guns, rifles since an early age. I have no use for assault rifles and handguns. Which are at the core of most gun violence. I am not opposed to stricter laws towards these, especially assault rifles. Now, I do have a 9mm pistol that is kept in fingerprint safe under my bed, strictly for home defense. I don't and choose not to get a carry permit, as I am not comfortable with open carry, personally. It's society's nature to have extremist in nearly every facet, that make/ruin it for those who do take responsibility seriously. But at the crux of it, humanity would be better off without guns, warheads, nuclear warfare, chemical warfare, etc etc. but the evil would still be there, the crimes would still exist. The disdain/discrimination towards each other would be just as intense. Our worlds problems run much deeper, but I don't want to bring religion into an already touchy subject.

The fact that anyone, anywhere can legally have an instrument that could instantly end my life without being close to or encountering me is something I will never be comfortable with.

I read something today that if guns didn't exist he would have just stabbed them. That's moronic. Guns make killing way, way too easy for cowards.
