Possible opportunity to attend the Navy War College in Newport, RI for 10 months to get a Masters degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Tuition is paid, and I would be in TDY status with all lodging and per diem included the entire time.

Thoughts? 10 months is a long time to be away from the wife, but this is an incredible opportunity if I were to be selected...

That is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I guess it's similar to a deployment (obviously not in terms of what you'd be doing, but in length away from the misses). Would she be able to see you any?

Yeah, we would make it work. Weekends here and there, holidays, etc. My wife is very cool and supportive about stuff like this. I could use some of the per diem money to fly home and to Knoxville this fall...

Tough decision. The application process is a bit of a biotch, and I'm sure it will be very competitive. But it is an unbelievable opportunity to get a graduate degree and add points to my promotion package.
