Hudson silences Mets, Shea

New York — They are two thirtysomethings steadfastly determined to prove detractors wrong, and their personal missions are helping Tim Hudson and Chipper Jones stoke the Braves' fire. Jones hit a two-run homer in the first inning, and Hudson took a no-hitter into the fifth in a 7-3, series-opening win against the New York Mets on Friday night, silencing a crowd of 47,547 on a 50-degree night at Shea Stadium. Hudson (3-0) allowed five hits in eight scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 0.62, and the Braves (11-5) retook the NL East lead over New York (10-5). It was the start of a nine-game trip for the Braves, who are 5-1 away from Atlanta.

My favorite part: "silencing a crowd of 47,547 on a 50-degree night at Shea Stadium"
