Braves Thread Podcast

it really might just be because my computer sucks. I might have to try to find a good spot on campus to do this with an actually good computer.

I won't comment on the topics or quality of info, because you guys are the experts on that part. I enjoyed listening to both of your thoughts.

I can offer you both one piece of advice that was offered to me when I became an instructor and had to start standing up in front of a bunch of people and not only talk, but teach. It's easy to get nervous...hell, I get nervous the night before every class I teach, all the way up until the presentation. I could tell Z was a little nervous to start, because he was saying "um" or "uh" a lot. It's a classic symptom.

My advice is to practice your intro over and over and over. Once you get comfortable talking and in the groove of your presentation, you'll relax and those word whiskers will go away. I didn't hear Z say "uh" another time after the first few minutes of the show...because he was settled in and comfortable. So practice, practice, practice your opening so it gets you in the groove ASAP. You're both very comfortable with the content of the presentation, so that will make you all the more confident as you go.

Otherwise, great great job, especially for the first one. Seriously, I thought it was awesome. I'd listen to you guys before 3/4 of the BS on local talk radio.

Thanks, GWN. A lot. I would have stumbled through an intro, too. That can be fine-tuned.

We were both nervous and we were both FLUSTERED. So when we jumped in it was a bumpy takeoff.

I can already tell that you guys can make a good podcast though. You know what you're talking about; the interplay between the two of you is good. This is already an improvement over what you hear on the Sports Animal.

That was my main issue. I was just so flustered because of setting it up and we were like "**** it let's do it now" that I had to catch my breath.

Seriously dudes...fine job. I'm listening thinking..."this is their first one?!?!" Excellent job. You guys will be a lot more comfortable on the next one now that you know how it's going to go.

dbake also did a great job because half the points I brought up he didn't expect and he did a great job transitioning.

You settled right in, bro. I teach portions of our Adjunct Instructor Training Program, which is basically how to be an instructor, and we have a checklist to go through when we evaluate a student presentation. Word whiskers are a very common problem, and it's almost always due to being nervous. Yours went away almost instantly. A lot of people's don't...and it takes a lot of work to correct. I don't see it being an issue for either of you.

we should just leave the "you there? what? hello? what the ****? wanna just start now? let's just pretend we just started. let's edit after. i'll start. ok let's. okay, let's go." in there.

Offended but definitely needed to know this.

No offense intended. Probably just your microphone. Or lack thereof.

Other than your microphone and Dbake's choppy connection, this is already very well done. If you stick with this you'll get an audience.

I had to use my phone to call in and used an old phone mic that is five years old. I was shocked it still worked.

I appreciate the compliments

**does Gerry Bertier point at Colin Cowherd**

You don't sound any worse than some of the guests on half the podcasts I listen to. It just sticks out more because you're the point man.

Leave it in there, but chop and screw it.

The dialogue was good, could tell y'all were feeling each other out. But there is some chemistry there, no homo. Well, I guess it could be (not judging).

Helen Keller has a better voice than Colin Cowherd

Also, it kind of goes without saying, but...preparation is key. Once you guys iron out exactly what topics are covered, who is going to lead on what, etc, the flow will be great. With a podcast, you have the benefit of not having to answer random questions from the audience. That can be a real challenge. I tell everyone " Any monkey can get up here and read off a PowerPoint...when you have to start answering questions, you better have your sh&@ straight. Although I think you'd both do fine with that as well...your subject knowledge is excellent.

You might need to bring in a third guy sometimes, one who's negative. Spice it up a little bit.
