Braves Marlins Game 2

I'm going to miss most of the game. I won't be home until around 9:00. You guys pull them through.

Redman - Redman - Redman

The Braves put a four-spot on the board in the top of the 1st, and then Redman gave it right back in the bottom of the inning. Agh.

Bases loaded, Chipper pops out. Andruws up swinging for the fences, and missing.

At least we're winning. You knew it was going to take some runs to get a W for Redman.

I just turned it on, looks like it's 6-6.

Well if you look, my last score update was at 7:51, a good hour before you read it.

Redman has got to go, unfortunately. He gave back a four-run lead and a two-run lead in three innings. I know he pitched pretty well in one start last week, but I think we have enough evidence that this is one reclamation project that isn't going to work.

Time to try Option #2 off the scrapheap, perhaps, or take a shot on a kid from the minors. Or try to go the Johnny Wholestaff approach and try to get a middle reliever to give you four innings every few days. It can't be any worse than what Redman is bringing to the table.

A nice 9 inning offense provided some extra runs and they ran away with the win.

Nice to come back and get the win, definitely.

I still hope that that was the last we'll see of Mark Redman. Thought it was a good sign when Cox yanked him after three innings.

What in the blue hell were the Marlins thinking when they intentionally walked Ryan Langerhans in the 9th?? I know the "book" says to walk him to load the bases, but dude is hitting .056 and is 0 for his last 24. The matchup couldn't possibly have been any better for them.

They've been reading your posts about how good he is. :p

Maybe they were going with the law of averages that he was WAAAAY past due.

Seriously though, I agree with you. I would have pitched to him.

At the very least, they have to have somebody up in the bullpen ready to come in after Pete Orr's hit.

That was one of the most incomprehensible things I've ever seen a manager do. Walking the bases loaded is almost always a terrible move anyway (hello, Bobby Cox!), but walking a guy who's only got two hits all year is just mind-boggling. I don't care who's coming off the bench, he's going to be better than Langerhans right now.
