Everything turned for the Braves when shortstop Edgar Renteria left the game in the eighth inning Thursday night with a sprained ankle. The Braves announced he is day-to-day and he'll be re-evaluated Friday. Renteria hurt his ankle while fielding a ball with Rafael Soriano trying to hold a 9-5 lead. Having used Yunel Escobar to pinch hit, manager Bobby Cox was forced to shift Chipper Jones to shortstop and Willie Harris to third for the first time in his career.
