San Francisco — A sellout crowd came to watch Barry Bonds swing for Hank Aaron's home run record, but John Smoltz made sure Giants fans would have to wait a little longer. After Brian McCann's three-run double in the first inning, Smoltz handled most of the heavy lifting the rest of the way in a 4-2 series-opening win against San Francisco at AT&T Park. "To be able to give Smoltz a three-run lead was huge," said McCann, who downplayed the Bonds homer watch. "We want to win the games. We want to get to the postseason. It doesn't matter who's on the field. This is four games; we just want to win."
