Up-and-down Davies demoted to AAA

Struggling pitcher Kyle Davies was optioned to Class AAA Richmond on Thursday, the latest setback for a former top prospect the Braves had expected so much more from in his third major league season. Davies, 23, was pulled from his Monday start against Cincinnati after facing five batters and getting no outs, which left him with a 4-8 record and 5.76 ERA. "We think the world of him," manager Bobby Cox said of the right-hander from Stockbridge, who was 1-5 with a 7.31 ERA in his past seven starts. "He's just got to find a way to get it going again. He should be a 15-game winner by now."
