Smoltz MRI results better than expected

MRI results on pitcher John Smoltz's right shoulder came back better than expected, the Braves announced late Friday. Test results showed some inflammation in the shoulder and a "good" rotator cuff, meaning Smoltz will not meet with Dr. James Andrews next week in Birmingham. The Braves did place Smoltz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 3. He'll be eligible to return to the team July 18. Lefty prospect Jo-Jo Reyes will start Saturday against San Diego in place of Smoltz.
