Los Angeles — There have surely been games more unpredictable than the one the Braves and Dodgers played Thursday night, but none immediately comes to mind. The anticipated pitchers' duel disintegrated and Tim Hudson left without recording an out in the fourth inning, but the Braves rode a Chipper Jones-led resurgent offense and airtight relief pitching to an 8-6 win for a split of their four-game series against Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium. Jones hit home runs in the sixth and eighth innings to move past Dale Murphy as the Atlanta franchise leader with 372. Hank Aaron hit 335 home runs in Atlanta. He belted 398 home runs as a Milwaukee Brave and 22 with the Milwaukee Brewers.
