Los Angeles -- John Smoltz will fly back to Atlanta Thursday to have his sore shoulder examined, and will miss at least one start and next week's All-Star Game in San Francisco. The Braves pitcher remains confident the soreness is lingering inflammation, not structural damage, and that complete rest for 10 days will take care of the problem without a stint on the disabled list. "We talked about it," Smoltz said, "and the best thing to do is fly back home and talk to the doctors, to see what the best step to take is. It's best to let them work me over and check me out."
