McCann reluctantly admits injuries' effect

He can't stand the thought of sounding like he's making excuses. He wants more than anything to be a durable player his team can always count on. That's why Braves catcher Brian McCann has been reluctant to blame his sluggish performance on injuries, and wouldn't have said anything about a cortisone shot in his right ankle until the secret got out Friday. McCann was out of the lineup for the second time in three days since getting the injection Wednesday. Manager Bobby Cox expects he'll play tonight.
