The Braves opened the second day of the Major League Baseball amateur draft by selecting Georgia Tech shortstop Michael Fisher in the sixth round, then picked two of his Yellow Jackets teammates, left-handed pitcher Timothy Ladd in the ninth round and right-handed pitcher Edwin Burns in the 16th round. That gives the Braves seven picks thus far (through 18 rounds of the 50-round process) with Georgia ties, including first-round selection Jason Heyward, an outfielder from Henry County High School, and second-round choice Josh Fields, a right-handed pitcher from the University of Georgia, both chosen Thursday. They took Harris County right-hander Caleb Brewer in the 14th round today after selecting Mercer right-handed pitcher Cory Gearrin on Thursday in the fourth round.
