Pittsburgh — Jeff Francoeur showed this weekend against the Pirates how different a hitter he is this year. He went 7-for-13 (.538) to raise his season average to .310. Of the seven hits, six were singles, and he struck out only twice. "You know what my favorite at-bat of the series is?" Francoeur asked. Then he described his leadoff single in the eighth inning Friday against reliever John Grabow. The Braves didn't score, but the at-bat was important to Francoeur.
