Pittsburgh — Bobby Cox had a hunch about Chuck James Saturday afternoon. He shared it with reporters when he confirmed Chipper Jones would be out of the lineup with sore wrists and thumbs. "Chuckie will pick up the slack," Cox said, going so far as to say, "I bet he gets a hit tonight." James didn't get a hit, but he gave up only one. He was perfect through five innings, carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and gave up only one hit in seven shutout innings to lead the Braves to a 9-2 win over the Pirates.
